South-African tenor KATLEHO MOKHOABANE began his studies at the Tshwane University of Technology, where he completed his Bachelors's Degree as best in <Vocal Art Performance> in the class of Prof. Thami Zungu.

Already during his studies, he performed many parts such as a.o. FERRANDO in Mozart's "Cosi fan tutte" or ALFRED in J. Strauß' "Die Fledermaus" and sang in numerous concerts.

Additional Studies brought him to the Johannesburg International Mozart Festival, and he obtained his Masters's Degree at the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz in Cologne; studying with Prof. Brigitte Lindner, and parallel privately with Prof. Josef Protschka, who still is coaching him.

Katleho Mokhoabane completed his musical education in the Opera-Studio of the Wiener Staatsoper, where he appeared as KUNZ VOGELGESANG in Wagner's "Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg" and 1. GRALSRITTER in "Parsifal", PISANDRO and L'UMANA FRAGILITÁ in Monteverdi's "Il Ritorno d'Ulisse in patria", 1. PRIESTER in Mozart's "Die Zauberflöte", 4. JUDE in R. Strauss "Salome", VENDITORE di CANZONETTE in Puccini's "Il Tabarro", JOE in Puccini's "La Fanciulla del West" and Mr. JONES & SNOW BALL in Rastakov's 2023 world-premiered opera "Animal Farm".

In 2026 he returned to the Wiener Staatsoper as guest-soloist to perform the title-role of TITO in Mozart's "La Clemenza di Tito" , which marked a overwhelming success and a new step in his carreer.

Further guest-commitments brought him as a.o. GRAF LERMA in Verdi's "Don Carlo", SOLO-INMATE in Jake Heggie's "Dead Man Walking" and ALFRED in J. Strauß "Die Fledermaus" to the Theater Bonn, Theater Aachen, Musiktheater im Revier Gelsenkirchen and Theater Koblenz;

and concert-commitments included Beethoven's "IX. Symphonie" with Orchestra Sinfonica di Milano under the baton of Emmanuel Tjeknavorian in the Wiener Konzerthaus and Mozart's "Requiem" with the Bochabela String Orchestra & Friends under the baton of Gerald Wirth at the Rheingau Musik Festival and the Bregenzer Festspiele.

Since the 2024/25 season, Katleho Mokhoabane is a member of the ensemble at Hessisches Staatstheater Wiesbaden, where he so far embodied the parts of TAMINO in Mozart's "Die Zauberflöte", ALFREDO in Verdi's "La Traviata", STIMME des JUNGEN SEEMANNs and HIRTE in Wagner's "Tristan & Isolde", URIEL in a staged performance of Haydn's "Die Schöpfung", of TENOR-MAUS in the Music-Theatre after Franz Kafka "Josefine"

and JACQUINO in Beethoven's "Fidelio".

Future roles in Wiesbaden see FERRANDO in Mozart's "Cosi fan tutte" and NADIR in Bizet's "Les Pêcheurs de Perles".

And he also will again return to the Wiener Staatsoper als TITO.

His competition-successes include the. 1st Prize at the Concours International de Chant Lyrique de Canari, the 1st Prize at the Internationalen Musikwettbewerb Köln, the 2nd Prize at the DEBUT Gesangswettbewerb, as well as the 3rd Prize at Concorso Lirico Internationale di Portofino, as well as the 1st Prize at the UNISA National Voice Competition, where he also was awarded with Special-Awards for <The best interpretation of a song>, for <The best interpretation of a South-African composition> and for <The best interpretation of an opera-aria>.

Katleho Mokhoabane had the pleasure, to work with conductors und stage directors such as Franziska Angerer, Daniel Carter, Maëlle Dequiedt, Markus Dietze, Céline Gaudier,Pablo Heras-Casado, Tatjana Gürbaca, Hermes Helfricht, Markus Huschke, Will Humburg, Albert Horne, Philippe Jordan, Leo McFall, Moshe Leiser, Cornelius Meister, Sergio Morabito, Christian Rohrbach, Kirill Serebrennikov, Alexander Soddy, Cyril Teste, Keith Warner and Jossi Wieler.
